"The China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a national project and all units of Pakistan will reap benefit from it. Under the Corridor, up to $36 billion are being spent only on energy projects, out of which, up to $2.5 billion are being spent on those in the Punjab while up to $9 billion in Sindh," claimed Lahore's governing party President, Mohammad Pervez Malik, on Wednesday.

The politician told a group of businessmen on Wednesday that the projects were also being set up in Gwadar, Balochistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "The CPEC will bring progress and prosperity in the country and create millions of jobs. Nobody will be allowed to play havoc with the interests of the country and the Corridor will be completed at any cost. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the business community should support the government on the Corridor in larger interest of the country," he said. Quoting the report by the international agency, Bloomberg, he said the government had managed to improve the economy after a political upheaval by some opposition parties last year.
